Do you feel that the appearance of small teeth is taking away from your smile? Fortunately, if you aren’t happy with the way your smile looks, there are several different cosmetic options out there to help. Smaller-than-average teeth are a common aesthetic concern of patients, so there are a variety of correction methods out there for just that! Continue reading to learn about some of the different ones available.

Direct Bonding

Direct bonding is used to correct small cosmetic flaws. This minimally invasive procedure involves your dentist sculpting a tooth-colored composite resin to the surface of your teeth to correct minor imperfections, including small gaps, chips, stains, and even undersized teeth. It can be completed in just one visit and lasts for several years when maintained properly.

Veneers

This is one of the most common cosmetic treatments out there, especially for celebrities. It involves the use of wafer-thin shells of porcelain that are placed over the front surfaces of the teeth to correct things like chips, gaps, discoloration, minor cracks, misshapen teeth, and undersized teeth. Veneers are customized to be the exact size, shape, and color needed to blend in seamlessly with the rest of your smile. This procedure requires a small amount of protective enamel to be removed in order to make room for the veneers. Since enamel doesn’t grow back, veneers are irreversible. However, with optimal care, they can last upwards of 15 years before needing to be replaced.

Dental Crowns

If you have a tooth or two that’s undersized and has endured damage in the past, a dental crown may be a good option for you. Not only do dental crowns appear natural, but they are very durable as well. You won’t have to worry about damaging your restoration.

Crown Lengthening

It could be that your teeth appear short because of excess gum tissue – not your teeth themselves. In addition to affecting your appearance, this can also lead to gum sensitivity. In this case, excess gum tissue can be quickly and precisely removed with a dental laser. With crown lengthening, additional enamel is exposed, making your teeth appear longer and your smile more balance.

If you have shorter teeth, you have several options out there to help. Talk to your dentist to find out what the right solution is for you. You’ll be showing off your smile with confidence again in no time!
